Veuve Cliquot Manhattan Polo Summer Classic This Weekend

PREMIERE ROYAL VISIT TO INCLUDE
SECOND ANNUAL VEUVE CLICQUOT MANHATTAN POLO CLASSIC
HRH Prince Henry of Wales to Play Exhibition Match in Support of
American Friends of Sentebale

Veuve Clicquot is delighted to welcome HRH Prince Henry of Wales
to the United States this May for his first-ever formal visit to the United States. Prince Harry will play in
the second annual Veuve Clicquot Manhattan Polo Classic, taking place on Saturday, May 30th. Event
proceeds will benefit American Friends of Sentebale, a U.S.-based charity that supports at-risk children in
Lesotho, Africa. Sentebale was co-founded by HRH Prince Henry of Wales and HRH Prince Seeiso
Bereng Seeiso of Lesotho in honor of their mothers, Diana, Princess of Wales and Queen ‘Mamohato,
respectively.

The Veuve Clicquot Manhattan Polo Classic will coincide with the 400th anniversary of New York and
opening day of the Governors Island season. The event will feature areas that are both open to the public
at no charge as well as those that will require tickets. In reverence to the long-time polo tradition, VIP
guests will be asked to wear traditional polo style: women in hats; men in summer suits. This year,
Veuve Clicquot has invited the iconic St. Regis New York to feature its legendary Afternoon Tea at the
polo match. In celebration, Sandro Micheli, Executive Pastry Chef at Adour Alain Ducasse at The St.
Regis New York, has created a special menu for the occasion.

While Prince Harry will play on the team captained by Nick Roldan, world renowned Argentine polo
player and new face of Ralph Lauren’s Polo Fragrances, Nacho Figueras, will captain the opposite
playing team, Black Watch.

“Veuve Clicquot is honored to support Prince Harry and Prince Seeiso and their inspirational charity,
Sentebale,” stated Aisha Thompson, Veuve Clicquot Senior Brand Manager. “The second annual Veuve
Clicquot Manhattan Polo Classic marks the opening of signature Veuve Clicquot Summer Season, and we
look forward to providing spectators with an afternoon of sport and entertainment, surrounded by the
magnificent Manhattan skyline.”

“This iconic event will help raise awareness for our organization,” said Sentebale’s Chairman Charles J.
Denton. “Lesotho faces some enormous problems, and our work there could not be more vital. The
numbers of orphans and vulnerable children suffering are staggering, and we are managing to make a real
difference to help them. Events like this are crucial to support our work and we look forward to our
growing relationship with Veuve Clicquot.”

About Veuve Clicquot:
Veuve Clicquot has a long association with polo in England with the Veuve Clicquot Gold Cup and now
in the United States of America with the Veuve Clicquot Manhattan Polo Classic which kicks-off the
Veuve Clicquot Season summer opening. The champagne house was established in 1772 by Philippe
Clicquot, and began to thrive when Widow Madame Clicquot took the helm 1805. Today its eponymous
Yellow Label continues to be one of the world’s most beloved champagnes. The Veuve Clicquot Season
is an essential guide to the most exclusive events and parties of the year that began with “Clicquot in the
Snow” held annually in Aspen and continued with celebrations at the International Polo Club in Palm
Beach as well as numerous events throughout the year. For more information, please visit www.veuveclicquot.

About Sentebale:
Founded in 2006, Sentebale’s mission is to transform the lives of Lesotho's orphans and vulnerable
children, helping them to reach their full potential. The charity was founded by Prince Harry from the
British Royal Family and Prince Seeiso from the Lesotho Royal Family. Sentebale’s name means “forget
me not,” and is a reminder of all of the children who need help in Lesotho. Lesotho is a unique and
beautiful country, but with extreme poverty and the third highest rate of HIV/AIDS in the world, it is a
country in desperate need of help. With an estimated 400,000 orphans and vulnerable children in
Lesotho, Sentebale works with grass roots organizations to identify, support and empower these children
to transform their own lives. For more information, please visit www.sentebale.org.
About American Friends of Sentebale:
American Friends of Sentebale is a U.S. charity that promotes the health, welfare and education of the
people of Lesotho particularly its orphans and vulnerable children and supports Sentebale in its charitable
work in Lesotho. For more information on American Friends of Sentebale visit www.sentebaleusa.org or

About Governors Island:
One of the most historic and iconic locations in New York, Governors Island sits roughly 800 yards off
the southern tip of Manhattan. Polo was played regularly on Governors Island when it was an Army base
and matches were played throughout the early part of the 20th century, with the last match being played
just before World War II in September 1941. Veuve Clicquot brought polo back to Governors Island in
May 2008, almost 70 years since it was last played on the island. Governors Island is open every Friday,
Saturday and Sunday from May 30th to October 11th. For more information please visit

About Black Watch:
